A Million for a Morgue: Vote to name a new morgue after Stuart MacBride

For the bargain price of only £1 a vote, Dundee University’s cutting-edge new  forensics centre could be named after HC author Stuart MacBride.

In a bid to match the £1 million already pledged by Dundee University, and to give something back to the crime-fighting community, a group of bestselling crime novelists has got together to raise money by asking their fans to donate in their name. The author whose votes raise the most money will win the honour of having the new morgue named after them.

The project is the brainchild of top crime writer Val McDermid and Professor Sue Black, director of the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification (CAHID) at Dundee University.

Stuart said of the project: “I’ve been very lucky to pick the brains of some of the UK’s top forensic experts – their support and advice has been invaluable in making sure that what goes on in the books is as close to what really happens as possible.

“It’s not often that crime writers get to give something back to that community — other than buying them drinks, of course – so I’m delighted to be involved in helping  raise money for a new mortuary.”

The aim is to raise as much money as possible, so each £1 donated counts as one vote for the chosen author.

The full list of authors participating is: Mark Billingham, Lee Child, Harlan Coben , Jeffery Deaver, Tess Gerritsen , Peter James , Jeff Lindsay, Stuart MacBride, Val McDermid, Kathy Reichs.
