Which types of books do you review?: I review and read all genres of books. Crime books are a passion of mine and I tweet about them all the time too

What do you like about crime fiction? I love how they absorb me in like no other genre. The clever plots, twists I never see coming, and brilliant characters just make me want to read more. I also love the variety of sub-genres you can get – there’s the psychological thriller, the traditional whodunit, the law based procedural, and the forensic investigation to name just a few.

For anyone starting out, can you recommend 5 essential crime books to read?

When I started compiling this list I knew it would going to be difficult. I didn’t realise just how much until I got to numbers 4 and 5. So there might be a number 6 (I regret nothing)

Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie

Disclaimer by Renee Knight

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

The Suspicions of My Whicher by Kate Summerscale

The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey

The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith

Do you have 1 or 2 personal favourites? This is hard, really hard. I love my Agatha Christie and Robert Galbraith. I love David Baldacci and Stieg Larsson. I don’t think I can ever just have 1 or 2 personal favourites – there are so many excellent authors and stories out there.

New crime fiction author you are most excited by? Jenny Blackhurst and Renee Knight – I love both their debuts and can’t wait to see how they develop or what they do next.

Greatest fictional criminal? Another ridiculously difficult question! Moriarty seems obvious even though he is a criminal and a half. Other than him, I loved Stephen Brigstocke in Disclaimer. He was that perfectly penned creepy villain whose sanity is hugely questionable.

Greatest fictional detective? Has to be Poirot – always Poirot

Are you on social media? I am – twitter and Instagram is @roshETC – holler at me!

How can authors and publishers encourage you to review their books? Just email/tweet me – I love conducting interviews and reviewing books. I love taking my own photography to accompany the book too so if possible a physical copy is lovely, otherwise please send me lots of images!

How do you like people to contact you? Email/tweet/ comment on the blog – I don’t mind at all
