Broken Monsters: The Launch Party

Last night, fans and friends of Lauren Beukes flocked to the 71a gallery in Old Street for the launch of her terrifyingly brilliant new novel, Broken Monsters. But this was no ordinary launch … on arrival, guests were asked to log into our Broken Monsters app, a personality test that determines what kind of killer you are. Attendees were also asked to fill in luggage labels and hang them in the super cool ‘secret room’, a UV light-adorned cavern hidden behind a huge projector screen.

Photos from Lauren’s trip to Detroit adorned the walls, and she later spoke about the research she did there and the people she met, many of whom inspired characters in the book. Lauren finished off her speech with a captivating reading, made all the more atmospheric by the creepy video clips showing in the background.

Check out photos from the event below and take our Killer Personality Test to determine what kind of killer YOU would be. Are you a Broken Monster? A Psychopath? A Chainsaw Cannibal? Click here to find out…
