- 1950/60s – These hardbacks from the 50s and 60s show off some of our big hitters. Ngaio Marsh, alongside Christie, is another Queen of Crime. Rex Stout, an American author was famed for his detective Nero Wolfe. Finally Nicholas Blake was pseudonym of Cecil Day-Lewis, the Poet Laureate from 1968 until 1972.
- 1930s – In 1930, following the success of several crime novels, the Collins Crime Club was founded. These green style paperbacks came around 1936 priced at 6d. Authors like Philip MacDonald and A Fielding were key authors for the club.
- 1950s – Introduced in 1936, the White Circle Pocket Novel series included various genres, one of which was many of the Crime Club novels. These Christie titles show the progression in style through the 50s.
- 1950s – These White Circle titles from the 50s are by another pair of important authors for the Crime genre. As E C R Lorac, Edith Caroline Rivett published 48 titles. Mile Burton, a pseudonym for Cecil Street, wrote 4 books per year for an impressive 37 years!
